Subj: SUBMISSION: PSION bitmap (PIC) filter FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PSION bitmap (PIC) filter v1.0/Intel OCSoftware just released the 1.0/Intel version of the PSION bitmap (PIC) filter. It is very simple filter service, which converts the PSION bitmap files (usually these with the "pic" suffix) to NEXTSTEP-readable TIFF format. Terribly sorry for non-Intel users - let me know if some of you need the filter, and I'll try to do something for you (but no promises!). I have written this sw in hurry, and it is not portable (yet?). * INSTALLATION * Installation is straighforward: simply copy the PSIONpicFilter.service to some ...Library/Services folder and log out and back. Then you will be able to see the PSION PIC files in the Workspace Contents Inspector, drag&drop them to Edit RTF(D) windows etc - the only thing you must ensure is that they have the "pic" suffix (eg. myNiceScreenShot.pic). In case you don't know it, you may get anytime the screenshot from your S3a (or S3c or Siena - I don't know if this works for Workabouts or them old S3's) simply by pressing Control-Shift-PSION-S. The screenshot is saved to \Screen.pic. Then you can transfer it to your NEXTSTEP eg using my S3Link... Caution! The OmniImageFilter registers the "pic" suffix as well. Should you want to use both filters, you must edit either the file PSIONpicFilter.service/services or the file OmniImageFilter.service/services and change one of them. You also can simply uncomment the registration in the OmniImageFilter: ... # # PIXAR PICture file (reading) # #Filter: convertToTIFF #Port: OmniImageFilter #User Data: pic #Send Type: NXFilenamePboardType:pic #Return Type: NXTIFFPboardType #Executable: OmniImageFilter #Timeout: 30000 ... * PRICING * Freeware. The only thing you can't is reverse engineering and/or changing the software (but the possible change of the suffix in the services file). You can use and spread it any way you want; you can even sell this software as part of a bigger software package if you want to (you can't sell it alone). * WARRANTY * Usual absolutely-no-warranty conditions; if the software eat up whole your computer and start chasing your family, it's only _your_ responsibility. * AVAILABILITY * Software is available at ftp://next-ftp.peak.org/pub/next/apps/graphics/converters/PSIONpicFilter.service.I.tar.gz If you can't find the software, try the submissions folder. Supported architectures: sorry, only Intel so far Supported software: NEXTSTEP 3.3 (very probably will work with 4, untested) * ABOUT THE COMPANY * OCSoftware is a small private company in Prague, Czech Republic, specialized in NEXTSTEP and PSION software development.
