Welcome to the CHaRTSMITH 1.3 Alpha-2 program!

At BLaCKSMITH, we believe that software should be
dependable and fail-safe.  That is why we spend much
of our development time testing our products.
Unfortunately, even the most complete testing program
can overlook a few bugs now and then.  So, in an
effort to identify and fix any problems we may have
missed we are asking for your help.  Please take
some time to try out CHaRTSMITH 1.3.  If you find
any problems please call or email us with the details
so that we can correct the problems.  Also, if you
have any comments about features you don't find in
CHaRTSMITH please let us know.  Because CHaRTSMITH
1.3 is an incremental release we anticipate a short
alpha cycle.  So send us your comments as soon as

Things to know about CHaRTSMITH 1.3 Alpha-2 release.

CHaRTSMITH 1.3 Alpha-2 ships as a single architecure
binary, supporting only the Sun SPARC architecture.
Should you need CHaRTSMITH on one of the other
architectures, please contact BLaCKSMITH.

The CHaRTSMITH Tutorial is included to help you
become familiar with CHaRTSMITH. This document
describes, by way of example, some of the features
and capabilities of CHaRTSMITH.  Please take a few
moments to go through this file.

CHaRTSMITH Sample Documents are included to provide
examples and ideas about the use of the different
chart types and  many other features found in
CHaRTSMITH.  The charts found here represent just
a few of the things you can do with CHaRTSMITH.

CHaRTSMITH ships with extensive on-line help; however,
we removed on-line help from this alpha release to
reduce the size of the package. Please contact us
if you would like to receive the on-line help with
this release of CHaRTSMITH.

If you are interested in the CHaRTSMITH API ,
everything you need to make it happen is in the API
folder.  Please refer to the contents of this folder
to find out how CHaRTSMITH can provide your custom
applications with all its charting capabilities.

This alpha release of CHaRTSMITH is pre-licensed
and will run until April 31, 1995.  The date of the
final release of CHaRTSMITH 1.3 is not yet scheduled.

As with all pre-release software, we ask that you
do not distribute CHaRTSMITH to anyone outside your
organization.  If you know of someone who should
receive an alpha version of CHaRTSMITH, please have
them contact us directly.
