This directory contains PPP Package installers that are broken up into chunks that are small enough to fit onto single floppies. This file describes the naming conventions and procedures for downloading a multiple floppy installation. Each PPP distribution has a set of directories associated with it. Directories are named similar to: PPP2.3-xxx-y xxx will be 3 integers packed together. It represents the PPP version number for that distribution. y represents a disk number. For example: PPP2.3-051-1 PPP2.3-051-2 Represent PPP-2.3 version 0.5.1 disk 1 and disk 2. To download, you must pre-format enough disks to download the version you are interested in. The floppies should be formatted with a NeXT file system (versus DOS or MAC). Each floppy MUST be labeled EXACTLY the same as the directory. With the above example, you need 2 pre-formatted floppies. The first should be labeled: PPP2.3-051-1 and the second: PPP2.3-051-2 You should copy the contents of each directory onto the appropriate floppy (i.e. you should copy the .pkg file into the top level directory on the floppy... do not create a subdirectory on the floppy having the same name as the floppy). Once you have performed this step, insert the first floppy on your standalone NeXT and double click on the installer package. It will start the installation operation and prompt you for the further floppies as it need them. If you have troubles, please see: http://www.peak.org/next/ppp/ - Steve
